About Me

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT #80314, and have been working in this field for 8 years.  I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Expressive Arts Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

I have worked in a variety of settings with a wide range of people. I’ve facilitated art, music and dance therapy groups in homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment facilities and with elderly women. I’ve worked with individuals and families to help them cope with issues related to aging, degenerative illnesses, caregiving, pregnancy loss and infertility. I’ve taught psycho-educational classes and workshops focused on self care, talking to your doctor effectively, controlling frustration as a caregiver, and understanding and coping with dementia behavior.

My passion for this work comes from two sources. The first is a deep knowing within myself from a young age that I wanted to help people to heal. The second source of my passion stems from my own life experiences. I experienced recurrent pregnancy losses and found myself dealing with the emotions around those losses, sitting with the unknown about my future and researching all of my options to start a family.

I also watched a parent suffer the ravages of vascular dementia and witnessed first hand the physical and emotional toll it took on the people who were caring for him.

These experiences taught me that while major life upheavals often cause feelings of grief, depression, anxiety, loneliness, guilt, shame, jealousy, to name a few, there is also an abundance of hope if you are willing to open yourself up to the possibility of change. Change means different things to different people. It comes in a variety of forms. It may mean changing the way you think, how you react, or shifting gears and taking a different approach to the situation. At its core, change can move you from feelings that may feel intolerable to ones that feel more comfortable. Change isn’t something that happens in the future, change is something you can decide to do today. Each new day is an opportunity to start new, to change, and I would be honored to help you with that.
